The kids love playing with the 123maths. We employ 123maths to help students who are at levels 3 and below for the years 7 through Year. They get time to work on 123maths then return to their seats. We’ve been using 123maths from September 2014. It’s more subtle, and they are independent and children are given more control; they can also benefit from playing the program at home.1 We we have a licence for 40 users.

We’ll open to the computer suite around 8.30am for children to do their homework (especially in the absence of access to a computer within their homes). We are using Plus 1 and the power of 2. We’re a data-rich authority and therefore we do not feel it necessary to use tests, reports or assessments features.1 The 123maths program is used at registration times and forms to provide intervention every week. We rely on reports to determine how our children are getting in the right direction. We have 123maths available for students who are at the level 3 or lower from Year 7 to Year 9. We have additional structures in place to track evidence.1

We have noticed that students in 3b in year 7 are reaching 4B in Year 8. The staff believe that the students, following the use of 123maths, are now able to work on the more difficult aspects of their maths. The students are advancing through the sets throughout the course of the year. Children who have worked with 123maths have a huge increase in confidence and their knowledge of numbers is dramatically increased. We haven’t yet fully utilized all 123maths functions, for example tests as we slowly introduce the program.1

I feel that the 123maths curriculum is a fantastic method of reaffirming the key lessons through numbers.1 We begin using the book that is physical Plus 1 at the beginning of the first year of Primary 3 as we believe children can get the most benefit of the private touch. However, it can or should not take over the job of the teacher who must use the information collected to help ensure the most effective and solid teaching.1

Following that, we decide whether children should move into the Power of 2 book or on to the 123maths online. We did notice that the part on negative numbers incorrect as children with difficulties with numbers do not typically have this problem so early in their development.
